I’ve always firmly believed in the importance of the strong connection between fashion and other arts. Nowadays fashion is business,but there are rare examples of designers who keep on pushing the boundaries of their creativity. When they include a reference to a work of art in their designs, or use traditional techniques (think of the Carrickmacross lace-making technique, used by Alexander McQueen and later by Sarah Burton in Kate Middleton’s wedding dress), you realize you’re witnessing the creation of something special.
