Usually, the globe is intended as a three-dimensional scale model of the earth or other spheroid celestial body such as a planet, a star or the moon. The word “globe” comes from the Latin word globus, meaning round mass or sphere but it also refers to a spherical representation of the celestial sphere, showing the apparent positions of the stars and constellations in the sky.
