I WANT TO BE THE GIRL WITH THE MOST CAKE

Despite being a lover of basic, sturdy bags (it’s not a case if most of my bags are black or brown Balenciagas), quirky styles always attract me. I would never leave the house carrying an unusual piece because I actually use bags and don’t really consider them as simple fashion accessories, but the power of imagination (and a bit of sparkle) is hard to resist. Take this cake slice crystal minaudiere by Judith Leiber, for example: I would keep it as a work of art, but I don’t think I would use it in real life.
Leiber established her company in 1963: since then, the brand has been the epitome of crystal-studded eccentric minaudieres, just like those seen in a famous episode of Sex and the City. The accuracy of details and the exquisite craftmanship is what makes these evening bags special. The true-to-life elements in this piece-of-cake minaudiere are impressive – the layers in different colours, the fruit-shaped snap closure, the whipped-cream effect of the icing.
The bag has a metallic blue nappa leather lining and has a silver chain to be carried as shoulder bag. This is definitely something a woman chooses to carry at special occasions: I would pair it to a one-shoulder black evening dress or to a flirty printed chiffon cocktail dress, accessorized with crystal-studded sandals or satin peep-toe pumps.
