LEAVE IT TO THE OTHER GIRLS TO PLAY

Ha, the ever fascinating concept of the exotic! It never fails to impress because it works on the man’s natural longing for anything distant in time or place. Take the example of cultures from the Far East: how many collections have been inspired to Japan and China and how many are yet to come? Fashion, as a teleport machine, gives you the chance to travel without moving, and sometimes a small accessory is enough to infuse your ordinary life with a bit of exoticism.
The Brazilian brand Lool must have had this in mind when this wooden clutch was designed. Vaguely reminiscent of inlay motifs on Japanese pieces of furniture, it features an acrylic design on both sides and a gold chain strap. It’s made of wood with acrylic appliqués and metal.
The clutch has a squared shape: each side measures 15 cm, so you can carry only some essentials in it. After all, it’s an evening bag and as such it must be light-weighted.
I would use it with an all-black outfit, embellished by touches of gold or red. The recent departure of Nicolas Ghesquière from Balenciaga and the rumored arrival of Alexander Wang at the French maison have served as source of inspiration. I picked a pleated cape dress by Balenciaga, a printed scarf and platform sandals by the same brand – the result mirrors a contemporary, yet dramatic, style. The second outfit includes a leather and jersey draped dress and Nikola strappy sandals by Alexander Wang, paired to a Repossi gold lace cuff. As a nail polish addict, I’ve chosen two blood red shades – Deborah Lippmann Just Walk Away Renee and Essie Wicked – which will give a vampy touch to both outfits.
