LIKE A DIAMOND IN THE SKY

There must be something wrong and kind of twisted in my relationship to glitter shoes. I own a pair of silver ballerina flats only, but whenever I see glitter shoes, my heart goes boom and my wish list becomes longer and longer. In particular, I’ve got a problem with Miu Miu glitter shoes: I’m hopelessly in love with most of them and the recently launched line of mary janes has brought my love to a higher level.
Miuccia Prada has proven many times she’s the undisputed queen of glitter and the five shoes of this mini-collection speak a million words. There’s nothing groundbreaking in glittering high-heeled mary-janes, but the silver glittering sole is surely something new. Awww, I know we’ll soon see these beauties on each and every possible personal style blogger; maybe we’ll soon grow tired of them, but in the meantime they serve their primary goal: making our glitter dreams wet.
Is there anything more perfect that these? For me, it’s a dream come true, the best real-life version of the iconic silver slippers worn by Dorothy Gale in the literary world of The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Last year, Miu Miu released a lovely pair of silver bow pumps which momentarily won the prize as best Silver Slippers Ever, but these beat them.
The line, available at Miu Miu stores in August 2012, also includes patent mary-janes in three colours – peacock blue, powder pink and fuchsia. The powder pink ones are probably the most predictable: I must admit I had a deja-vu when I first saw them, because they reminded me of Christian Louboutin Clichy Strass pumps (minus the sparkling sole, of course). I don’t think the Miu Miu glitter bombs will spark a controversy about who made them first, so let’s enjoy their glam beauty andmget prepared to welcome the rise of an exciting new generation of glitter accessories.
