SUMMER SUN, SOMETHING’S BEGUN

Posted on June 12, 2012 by Teresa Cannata'

Don’t you feel like the arrival of summer is so late this year? Rainy days in June are sometimes romantic, but everybody is waiting for the sun to peek through clouds and to shine, so as to let summer in. Despite the October-like weather we’re having, there’s a way to pretend hot weather is already here: paint your nails neon! This trend comes from the 80s and is here to stay, as shown by many nail polish brands which have recently launched neon colours for real and fake nails. China Glaze, one of the most famous American brands, has taken the brightest summer shades ever and put them in bottles: the result is the summer 2012 collection, aptly called Summer Neons.

The collection includes 12 shades: most of them have subtle shimmer, which prevents the neon nail polish from looking one-dimensional.

Top row, from left to right: Hang-Ten Toes (neon pink), Love’s a Beach (hot pink with pink shimmer), Beach Cruise-r (neon fuchsia), Under the Boardwalk (raspberry jelly), Ride the Waves (ocean blue jelly), Splish Splash (bright sky blue).

Bottom row, from left to right: I’m With the Lifeguard (lime green), Sun-Kissed (neon yellow), Orange You Hot? (neon orange), Surfin’ for Boys (bright neon coral), Pink Plumeria (medium coral pink), Flirty Tankini (bright medium pink).

As a nail polish addict and proud owner of an extensive nail polish collection, I can swear on the good quality and excellent staying power of China Glaze shades. All of them are free of DBP, Toulene and added Formaldehyde and contain china clay as nail hardener.
